When you live in a city whose motto is “keep Portland weird”, it comes as no surprise that a local author of children’s books is convicted of possessing child porn.
From Fox12 Portland:
PORTLAND, Ore. — A federal judge has sentenced children’s author K.P. Bath to six years in prison for possessing child pornography.
In a news release Thursday, Assistant U.S. Attorney Gary Sussman said the 51-year-old author of “The Secret of Castle Cant” and “Escape from Castle Cant” had a large collection of still images and video clips. He also traded pornographic images with at least two out-of-state collectors.
Bath had a book scheduled for release last fall. His publisher scrapped it when the allegations surfaced.
As part of his sentencing, Bath will have to register as a sex offender. Authorities served a search warrant at his north Portland home in June 2008. They said they found a large collection of photos and videos showing child pornography on computer equipment. Many of the videos graphically depicted the sexual abuse of very young children, federal authorities said.
It would seem the weirdness knows no bounds here:
PORTLAND, Ore. — The captain of U.S. Coast Guard Sector Portland has been relieved of his command because he used a government computer to view unauthorized websites, some pornographic. The Coast Guard said Friday that Capt. Fredrick G. Myer will be reassigned to a lesser role for now and further disciplinary action may be taken after the investigation is complete.
Is there an adult in the room, Portland?
