If there is a fox in the hen house, call the cops

I marvel at the audacity of the “Urban Green” movement who think that raising a couple of tomatoes and owning a laying hen makes them “real farmers”. How quaint. Take the example of one couple this week in Northwest Portland.

From KPTV.com:
“Dana Jazwinski and her husband heard a commotion and chickens rustling in the coop at about midnight at their home on West Road. When they went out to investigate, Jazwinski’s husband found the bobcat inside the coop. Jazwinski said her husband shut the door to the coop and they called the police.

“The police weren’t able to get it and all of the chickens were safe at that point,” Jazwinski said. “So we just kept it trapped in there and waited for Fish and Wildlife.”

With the chickens safe, Jazwinski and her husband kept the bobcat in the coop until Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife officers could arrive in the morning.

When the couple woke up, however, they found the bobcat had knocked out a window of the coop, taken one of the chickens and escaped.

In the real world, Mrs Jazwinski would be sporting a new fur, and no chickens would be harmed.
